The Brontë Birthplace is not a museum in the usual sense – think of it as a living ‘museum’ where you can come and have hands-on learning experiences and learn what life would have been like during the regency period in Thornton.
Come along and experience for yourself how the family would have lived in this little house on Market Street. As well as soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the period furniture and artefacts – you will enjoy a wide range of educational programmes and activities we also have on offer!
Our aim is to use the little house with all its history and its legacy to inspire future generations to follow their dreams and believe in themselves and all they can achieve, just like three young girls from Bradford did two centuries ago.
We have a range of exciting workshops on offer for schools aiming at helping children to overcome barriers and realise their full potential and future career aspirations. Additionally, we are planning to hold parent and child weekend workshops around inspiring young readers and young minds to take inspiration from past authors. These are events the whole family can become involved with.
We will be continually adding to our education offer to support learning for all – from providing enrichment activities for parties of school children to talks and events to support continued adult learning – our education offer will always be evolving to meet the needs and interests of our community.
Whatever the reason for your visit – whether you are a teacher visiting with a party of school children; a parent wishing to participate on one of our family events or a member of the community participating in one of our many workshops – you will definitely be inspired. Or, why not just come along with a friend or your favourite book and enjoy a coffee and a cake in our newly opened café? We can’t wait to meet you – come along and see what we have to offer!
