Bringing Community Cinema to the Brontë Birthplace

We’re delighted to announce a new collaboration with Bradford Community Cinemas, bringing a series of free film screenings to the Brontë Birthplace in 2026.

Funded as part of Bradford 2025 – City of Culture, Bradford Community Cinemas was created to make film more accessible across the district, streaming a curated selection of films into community venues, local spaces, and non-profit organisations. We’re thrilled that the Brontë Birthplace has been chosen as one of those venues.

Thanks to this funding, we’ve been able to invest in our own projector and screen, along with comfortable seat cushions, allowing us to transform the birthplace into a welcoming and intimate community cinema. These improvements will continue to benefit future events, talks, and gatherings long beyond this film series.

Film, heritage, and community

At the heart of this partnership is a shared belief that culture should be accessible, welcoming, and rooted in place. Screening films within the historic setting of the Brontë Birthplace offers audiences a chance to experience cinema in a way that feels both special and informal — bringing people together to enjoy storytelling in a space shaped by literary history.

All screenings are free of charge, with booking essential due to limited seating. Throughout each event, our Tea Room will be open for refreshments, and the Gift Shop will also be open for visitors wishing to take home a small memento of their visit.

Bradford Community Cinema

A lasting legacy

We’re incredibly grateful to Bradford Community Cinemas and Bradford 2025 – City of Culture for supporting this initiative. This collaboration not only allows us to offer free cultural experiences today, but also helps strengthen the Brontë Birthplace as a living, community-focused heritage site — a place to gather, share stories, and create new memories together.

We look forward to welcoming audiences to the birthplace for film, conversation, and community.
