We are thrilled to invite you to Kipping House: Open House and Garden event at the historic residence of Elizabeth Firth, a dear friend of the Brontës! Join us on 24 August 2024 from 12 PM to 5 PM at Kipping House, Thornton, for an enchanting afternoon filled with music, history and camaraderie.

The Story

Imagine Patrick and Maria Brontë visiting their friend Elizabeth Firth here for tea and the young Brontë sisters and Branwell playing in the garden. After enjoying the house and garden pop along to Market Street to see the house where they were born, en route take a look at all the stalls set up on Market Street for the Summer Fair.

  • Singing: Enjoy the captivating voice of Louise Cho as she performs enchanting songs.
  • House Tours: Discover the rich history of Kipping House with insightful tours led by Sharon Wright, the renowned author of “The Mother of the Brontës.”
