Brontë Birthplace

Artist in Residence Programme

Exhibit your artwork in the Brontë family home

Welcome to the Brontë Birthplace, where creativity meets heritage. Our Artist in Residence programme invites artists, photographers, and creatives of all disciplines to exhibit their work in the historic Parlour—the very room where the Brontë siblings were born.

What is the Artist in Residence Programme?

The Brontë Birthplace Artist in Residence programme is a unique opportunity for artists, photographers, and creatives to exhibit their work in one of the most historically significant homes in literary history.

This initiative is part of our commitment to nurturing creativity and community engagement. We offer a rotational residency that allows artists to showcase their work in an intimate, heritage-rich setting, inviting visitors to experience contemporary art in dialogue with the Brontës’ legacy.

A Space for Creativity and Connection

As a Community Benefit Society, we believe in the power of art to bring people together. Our residency programme is designed to support both emerging and established creative individuals, offering a platform to share their work with a diverse audience.

Each residency is tailored to the artist’s practice and may include informal talks, launches, workshops, or simply the opportunity to be present in the space and engage with visitors.

Whether you’re a visual artist, storyteller, or multimedia creator, the Parlour offers a space to reflect, create, and connect. Whereas, our café area offers a unique cosy creative atmosphere to our diners.

We welcome expressions of interest from artists across disciplines who are inspired by place, story, and community. If you’re looking for a residency that values creativity, heritage, and public engagement, the Brontë Birthplace could be the perfect setting for your next project.
