DESCRIPTION:As part of this year’s Heritage Open Days\, we invite you to 
 uncover the hidden history of Thornton and the birthplace of the Brontë s
 isters\, on a special walking tour celebrating the village’s rich cultur
 al\, industrial\, and architectural heritage.\n\nLed by local historian an
 d photographer Mathew Gibbons\, this 90-minute tour begins at the newly re
 opened Brontë Birthplace and guides you through key landmarks including t
 he Brontë Bell Chapel ruins\, Thornton Viaduct\, South Square Centre\, an
 d the village’s iconic snickets and ginnels. Once overlooked\, Thornton
 ’s story is now being rediscovered—and you’re invited to be part of 
 it.\n\nThis is a unique opportunity to explore the village that shaped one
  of literature’s most iconic families\, all while enjoying the spirit of
  Heritage Open Days: free access\, local stories\, and shared history. The
  tour ends back at the Birthplace\, where you can relax in the café\, bro
 wse the gift shop\, or book a house tour to continue your visit.\n\nTour t
